CARROLLTON, GA. - Piedmont Construction Group joined the University of West Georgia on October 21, 2021, to introduce the new Roy Richards Sr. Hall at a commemorative ribbon cutting.

Piedmont Construction Group performed construction management at-risk services for the 69,240 square-foot, three-story building. Designed by Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, the facility is designed to be a think tank environment – bringing students, faculty, and industry together in a collaborative, inspiring space that is forward-thinking in its design and daily application. Business students will learn in an environment that compels them to engage, challenge themselves and work together.

The facility includes a dozen classrooms ranging in size from a 24-seat seminar classroom to a 105-seat lecture hall, an expanded lab to serve management information systems students, and 13 collaborative learning spaces open for use by students, faculty, and staff. With a site area just shy of two acres, the three-story building has a geo pier and concrete footing foundation with structural steel construction and a brick facade.

The project team faced a global pandemic, supply chain shortages, and over 100 days of weather delays throughout construction. Now home to the Richards College of Business, the building was completed in time for the 2020-21 academic year.

Piedmont Construction Group also constructed a bridge connecting the University of West Georgia's campus to Carrollton's Greenbelt.

Prior to construction, Piedmont Construction Group performed a complete abatement of Watson Hall at the University of West Georgia to prep the site for the new building. Once Watson Hall was abated and all of the hazardous materials removed, the complete demolition of the three-story 57,036 square-foot building was completed – including all foundations and underground utilities within and outside of the building's footprint.
