Piedmont Construction Group was tasked with the opportunity to repair areas of cracked grout and tile in bathrooms in 4 student housing buildings. Piedmont performed a survey of every room in the 4 buildings in order to quantify the extent of the damage. In 61 units, we found that improper toilet installation and various structural deficiencies were the source of the problems. With an overall schedule of less than a month, we began by removing all tile and gypcrete and also removed compromised subfloor as necessary. After making necessary structural repairs, the floor systems were replaced with a higher grade of subfloor, a waterproofing layer, and new tile and grout. We also replaced the wax rings on approximately 310 toilets to mitigate further damage. All repairs were made in time to allow students to move back in for Fall Semester with no delays.
